Tech and Faith - My Experience with Passion Talks Portfolio Jam 2024
Passion Talks is a unique Christian organization that helps professionals explore the intersection of their faith and career journey. Founded over a decade ago, the organization creates a supportive environment for individuals seeking to understand their personal and professional calling through meaningful dialogue and self-reflection. This year’s event, held from November 1st-3rd, offered both virtual and in-person participation. As a virtual attendee, I found the experience to be both insightful and helpful in changing how I view my portfolio. The event focused on personal portfolio development, providing participants with time to meet with professoinals in various industries, which inspired ideas on how to showcase professional identity.
The virtual format was particularly well-structured. On Friday, our group gathered to discuss our individual projects and set personal goals. We then spent the weekend independently working on our portfolios, reconvening on Sunday to share our progress and insights. As someone looking to refine my professional online presence, I was glad to receive feedback from those that aren’t in the same field of work.
The most valuable aspect of the event was the diverse perspectives shared by participants from various professional backgrounds. I received specific guidance on improving my website, with particularly helpful feedback about incorporating more visual elements. The recommendation to use more images and videos to make my site more engaging will directly influence my future content strategy.
For professionals seeking to integrate their faith with their career development, Passion Talks offers a unique opportunity for growth and reflection. The event goes beyond traditional networking, creating a space where personal purpose and professional aspirations can meaningfully intersect.
